After 5 days of the weather forecast flip flopping from good to bad on Saturday the forecast for Sunday June 14th ended up being good enough for race day. All was set to go. The new track, MRCR Raceway, that just 4 weeks before was still a field that was cleared was ready for the Round 1 of the RC Pro Atlantic Division race. Typically in the Maritimes having 40 registered R/C’s is a good turnout. At 9:00am we had 61 R/C’s. This included racers from all over New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Quebec. A sometime unforeseen thing, this meant that we were going to have multiple mains and a great day of racing. The weather was perfect so qualifiers as planned started around 9:30am after a brief driver meeting. Qualifying was fast and competitive and even after a brief rain shower, which we announced was a planned track watering system, we ended up getting 3 full qualifiers for each class. Around 3:30pm, the mains were set using the 10 car system and got under way. First off was the exhibitional Electric 1/10 Stadium Truck class. We then ran the “B” mains for all classes and then ran the “A” mains finishing off the day with the 1/8 buggy “A” main.
Maritime R/C Racing, RC Pro – Atlantic Division would like to thank all those that attended the race, especially the “new guys” and hope to see everyone at the next race scheduled for July 12th and the Kennetcook Track in Kennetcook, Nova Scotia.
