The first ever RCPro Series race to be held in Canada was hosted by RCGEARs of Calgary on May 18. There were a total of 78 entries in the five class field of machines. The races and tech ran super smooth for the entire single day event.

Intermediate Truggy saw second year driver John Guss and his Kyoho truggy take the TQ and win. Corey Jones and Matt Dickson rounded out the top 3.

Intermediate buggy had Edmontonian and RCRE president Steve Svendson take the win. TQ Shawn Felix had to retire early in the race. Rick Kapitan and Dave Cole finished 2nd and 3rd repectively.

Monster Truck showcased the power of electric as Calgary’s Ross Gibson Tq’ed the class with his E-revo. This is Ross’s first year of racing to boot!! The main had lots of great battles between the top three finishers with all of them swapping back and forth for the lead throughout the main. Darryl Olstadt took home the win with Dick Liew and Ross Gibson taking 2nd and 3rd.

In Expert Truggy Medicine Hat’s Ty Tessman put on a driving clinic, both Tq’ing and taking the win. Calgary’s Troy Davies drove the wheels off his Kyosho truggy to come from 10th place early in the race to finish 2nd. Jammin’s Navaz Walji took 3rd.

Expert Buggy had Ty Tessman repeat his truggy performance by Tq’ing and winning the race. Also from Medicine Hat Dustin Fedosa took 2nd with Troy Davies rounding out the main in 3rd.

Thanks to everyone who came out to make Canada’s first ever RCPro series event a huge sucsess. The racing was great and the racers were top notch. A big thanks goes out to the RCGEARs club for the awesome facility and for one of the smoothest races ever to be held in Canada!!

RC PRO MONTHLY

Sun Feb 17, 2008 4:48AM

I am trying to complete a project that I intended to introduce on New Years but as is sometimes the case things just didn't come together as quickly as I had hoped.

I've talked to various people in the industry in the last couple years about an RC Pro Magazine BUT! There's always a BUT! Most of the people in the know all agree there isn't enough market to support that kind of magazine. Read that as printing is very expensive! So the thought of an online only magazine was discussed. Better pricing....... sort of but it would still be a full time job for someone to be the editor to put it all together. I currently spend 12-16 hours a day on RC Pro so that wouldn't be something I could handle myself. So here we are with the current idea!

We will be doing an RC Pro Monthly Podcast! So what does this mean? It means I'm sending out a call to all those people I see videoing RC Pro events around the country. This will be a 1 hour podcast each month featuring RC Pro News which includes results from previous events, video clips from those same events, interviews with racers from around the country and product introductions from our sponsors. I am gradually getting all this together and hopefully will shoot our 1st episode when I get back from The Cabin Fever event in Idaho. Once we have our 1st episode in the can (film talk) then we can set the schedule for new episodes and have a better feel for what time of the month they will appear. Now for those of you concerned about having to see me on the video........ to bad! LOL Actually I'm setting this up where I will be on for a short time on each episode to help explain or intro something but the hosting duties will be done by someone else. So it won't be a full hour of me! I'm as thankful of that as you are trust me.
So exactly what do we need for this project?
We need VIDEO!
We need it in raw form digital format. We cannot use anything other than digital video. Meaning not a youtube link or any other video service on the web. The best way to do this is see me at the event and we will burn it to a DVD so I can bring it back to my video guy. Once he gets it he will edit it to fit our formatting and select sections of it for the show. The videos won't be used in their entirety unless they are very short. If you have video from an event I won't be at you can contact me through the RC Pro Monthly email mailto:rc_pro_monthly@rcprosites.com for a shipping address. We will need your name so we can give you credit, the event, date etc.
Pictures
We can do slide shows for an event but this is only a last resort if we don't get enough video for an episode. Once again we will need them in raw form so we can size them accordingly. Plus all the other aforementioned info.
Product
The product introductions are available for our series sponsors ONLY.
We will need product from our sponsors to show on the programs. We will not be doing product testing we will be doing product introductions. We can return the product once we have aired our program if you include a return label. We need to hang onto it until then in most cases just incase we need to reshoot the intro for some reason. Once it is aired we can return it with the exception of some product it should not be harmed. Tires may be a different story. If they are preglued we will want to cut open atleast one tire to show the foam and wheel.

So what do we hope to accomplish with this? The same thing everyone out there hopes to accomplish by uploading their videos on youtube and other sites.
1. Make our sport more visible
2. Supply a way for the division racers to get known to the manufacturers.
3. Supply a way for the tracks to show what they have to racers from outside their area.
4. Supply a venue to our Sponsors to show their product to the world.

So what series will we focus on? Actually that depends on what we get material for! We will feature all of our series State, National, Onroad, Oval or Offroad but the success of this depends greatly on being able to work with the amatuer videoers out there and getting material to do the show.

So big question! What will this cost to see and how do we do it?
Big answer on that is NOTHING! It will be available to anyone who comes to our website. The way my websmaster explained it to me we will have a pop out window so you can watch the video and still surf the site. Now for those of you still on dialup you may want to upgrade to something faster. We will try to put it in as small of a file as possible and may need to break it up into segments to make it easier on everyone.
I'll post more info once we get closer to airing the 1st episode. So get those videos in!
